Frequently Asked Questions
Are your cattle ever fed grain?
No, our cattle are 100% grass-fed, meaning they only eat grass in the growing season and hay (dried grass) in the winter.
What breeds do you raise?
To help increase animal vigor we raise a variety of breeds. Our chickens are Cornish Rocks and Red Stars. Our ducks are Pekin, White Hybrid and Golden 300s. The pigs we raise are Yorkshires, Old Spots, Large Blacks, Tamworths, and Berkshires. Our cows are Red Devons, Herefords, Red Angus, and Black Baldies.
Are your practices organic?
Legally, only USDA-certified organic farms can use the word “organic”. However, our farming practices have always been and always will be 100% natural and sustainable. Plus, we never use antibiotics, hormones, steroids, or GMOs. Our cows are 100% grass-fed, and our animals eat an all-natural diet of green grass, hay, and non-GMO grains.
Why should I purchase an Omnivore CSA?
You know the person who grows the food that you feed your family. We offer transparent farming. You are always welcome to send us an email, visit us at any of our markets or at our farm store, you can hike the trails on the property, or attend one of our farm tours to learn about the day to day operation of the farm.
By choosing just what you want to buy you'll be informing us what you want and influencing the cuts and amounts we sell moving forward.
Can I use my CSA to purchase Thanksgiving turkeys?
You cannot use your CSA card to purchase a turkey. However, share members receive first dibs on reserving a holiday turkey.
How will I pick up my card?
This season we are going going cardless! Your CSA amount will be attached to your Pat's Pastured account if you choose to make purchases at the markets. If you wish to pre-order market pickups or home delivery, you will use the code attached to your CSA account (emailed to you at the start of the season).
What if I want to preorder my items so they are packed and ready for pickup at market?
You are always welcome to preorder items totaling $30 or more.
Is my CSA reloadable?
Yes. You can add funds to your CSA directly with a link within the email we sent you at the start of your CSA!
Does my CSA expire?
Yes, it expires at the end of the season. If you purchased a Summer CSA, it expires on October 31. If you purchased a Winter CSA, it expires on April 30
