Our layers spend most of the year foraging on fresh pasture. Three converted livestock trailers give them shelter from the weather, a place to roost at night, and nesting boxes in which to lay their eggs.
Their pasture-based diet is supplemented with a regionally-sourced grain, as well as fresh local produce, milk and cheese.
The layers are protected from predators by electric mesh fencing and two livestock guardian dogs. The dogs live with the layers 24/7.
In the coldest winter months, the layers live inside a greenhouse with a thick bedding of leaves that allows them to scratch for insects. On warm days we roll up the sides of the greenhouse to encourage them to venture outside!
Our fresh pastured eggs are available via: Farmers' Markets, CSA, Buying Clubs, and at some of our restaurant locations.
